Scriptural Prayer
Teacher: GiGi Allen Course Description: In Scriptural Prayer, we will learn the different types of prayer seen throughout the scriptures. This course will study the prayer of faith, consecration, commitment, worship, agreement, tongues and united prayer. Main Scriptures: 1 John 5:14-15 - Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. |
Session 1 | The Art of Prayer Pastor GiGi Allen teaches the 9 types of prayer seen in Scripture: prayer of faith, consecration, commitment, supplication, worship, agreement, unity, intercessory and prayer in the Spirit. We are to pray the Word of God and develop our prayer principles from the Word. God answers prayers from the Word of God because it aligns with the will of God. God answers prayers directed to Father God in the name of Jesus. The most effective prayer is the one inspired by the Holy Spirit for the specific situation. This teaching covers scriptures from Ephesians 6:18, John 16:23, John 15:7 and Steps to Answered Prayer by Kenneth E. Hagin. |
Session 2 | Praying in the Spirit Pastor GiGi Allen expounds on praying in the Spirit. When praying in the Spirit, we become more sensitive to spiritual things than natural things. Paul encourages us to pray both in understanding (known language) and in tongues. According to Scripture, tongues can be used to give thanks, refresh, pray God’s perfect will, edify oneself, and build up one’s faith. This teaching covers scriptures from 1 Corinthians 14:14, Romans 8:26-27, Jude 1:20, Steps to Answered Prayer, and Art of Prayer by Kenneth E. Hagin. |
Session 3 | Prayer of Faith Pastor GiGi Allen expounds on the prayer of faith, the prayer to change things. In Mark 11:24-25, Jesus teaches the principles of the prayer of faith. He uses the word “say” four times and the word “believe” once. Unlike other manners of prayers, there is an emphasis on speaking to the situation. In Scripture, we see the prayer of faith applied in the areas of healing, provision and turbulent weather. This teaching covers scriptures from Mark 11:24-25, Acts 3:6, John 6:6, Acts 9:32-35, Mark 4:35-40 and Steps to Answered Prayer by Kenneth E. Hagin. |
Session 4 | Prayer of Commitment and Agreement Pastor GiGi Allen expounds on the biblical foundation for prayer of commitment. The Gospels and the Epistles teach us when we cast our cares to God, He will care for us and give us His peace. The prayer of commitment honors God by believing God to be our ultimate Provider, Healer, Counselor and Father. The prayer of agreement is a prayer when 2 or 3 gather together to pray in the name of Jesus. This teaching covers scriptures from 1 Peter 5:7, Matthew 6:25-33, Psalm 2, John 17:16, John 14:27, Matthew 18:18-20, Steps to Answered Prayer by Kenneth E. Hagin. |
Session 5 | United Prayer and Worship Pastor GiGi Allen expounds on the prayer of unity and prayer of worship. From the early church to modern day testimonies, the prayer of unity has been a powerful tool to bring more people into the kingdom of God and to usher in revival. In addition to praying in one accord, the early church was known for praising and worshipping God, especially through persecution and trials. Believers can minister to God through the prayer of worship. This teaching covers scriptures from Acts 4:24-29, Acts 13:2-3, Acts 16:22, Acts 2:46-47, Luke 24:50-53, and Steps to Answered Prayer by Kenneth E. Hagin. |
